Who I Am
Bernard B. Beard, itinerant seeker of enlightenment. Husband, father, son, brother, friend, teacher. Oh, also: rocket scientist, nuclear physicist, curmudgeon.
Where I've Been
Hawaii, Japan, California, Texas, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Bulgaria, Florida, Tennessee, and Italy are all places I've lived more than two weeks. Not counting side trips to Mexico, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Louisiana, Colorado, France, Washington, Washington D.C., New York, Grand Cayman, New Hampshire, Maine, Monaco, Ohio, Greece, Utah, Vermont, Scotland, England, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Switzerland, and passages through Arkansas, Virginia, Arizona, Maryland, West Virginia, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, South Carolina, New Mexico, Mississippi, Austria, Rhode Island, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Minnesota, and Michigan. Not in that order.Well, I've never been to Spain.
What I've learned

Research Interests
I was once a grad student at the Center for Theoretical Physics, which in turn is associated with the Laboratory for Nuclear Science at MIT. My research interests include lattice gauge theory and the development of interesting algorithms for spin and quantum link models. I occasionally work on improvements to cluster algorithms. Here's a link to my thesis.I am currently working on the Ares I launch vehicle, as a consultant with ARES Corporation in Huntsville, AL.
